From Batman to Black Widow, superheroes are generally known for their agility and immense physical capabilities. While no one possesses superpowers such as super-strength or invincibility, they can train their bodies physically to achieve a “superhero body” through exercise routines.
Below are two workouts, inspired by heroes with no supernatural powers other than a strong willpower.
THE BATMAN WORKOUT
To embrace Batman’s agile abilities and martial art skills, this workout routine was curated to include mobility-focused exercises.
First, begin with a 30 second split stretch, then follow with one-minute shoulder rolls on each arm. Finally, finish the warm-up with 15 lunges on each leg.
Next, follow this five step routine to maximize your possible mobility:
One mile run (9-minute pace)
10 Pull-ups
50 Sit-ups
20 Push-ups
One 10 minute jog
Repeat this workout 2-3 times per week to maximize your potential movement and mobility skills.
THE BLACK WIDOW WORKOUT
Black Widow utilizes her flexibility and strength to persevere through physical challenges. This workout will help you increase bodily flexibility, as well as overall leg strength and endurance by utilizing high intensity interval training (HIIT) exercise which burns calories effectively.
To first warm up your body, begin with a 10-minute jog and follow that with 30 seconds of each stretch listed below.
10 Calf raises for each leg
30-Second side stretches on each arm
15 Hamstring stretches per leg
Now, to begin with increasing muscular flexibility, perform these five stretches:
One-minute calf stretches per leg
30-Second glute bridge
One-minute core plank
Two-minute butterfly stretch
20-Second cobra stretch
Lastly, to become more agile, complete a one-mile run at a nine-minute pace. Be sure to cool down after the run by staying hydrated and stretching with a 30-second hip flexor stretch. Repeat this workout 1-2 times per week.
These exercise routines can help you achieve your desired, superhero-like fitness level.
